PPSC is the acronym is the acronym for Public Service Commission. It's a central administrative body that is responsible for managing the examsthat take place to be conducted for jobs in various categories. Public Service Commission was set up under Article 315 to 323 from the constitution of India.

For the Union the commission is known as Union Public Service Commission which is responsible for conducting exams for the purpose of securing Indian jobs at the National level and the higher levels of Central service. For example there is an IAS examis taken by UPSC every year. This exam is an entry point to Group A and B services.

At the state at the state level, this commission is called it is known as the State Public Service Commission which belongs to the state and conducts exams to determine the eligibility of officers to state services and to offer suggestions and guidance for the governor in discipline issues. Its members are nominated through the governor.

In terms of composition, that of State Public Service Commission and the Union Public Service Commission is the same. However, the jurisdiction of the UPSC is significantly greater than that of State PSC. The UPSC exercises its jurisdiction throughout the country, whereas, the SPCS's jurisdiction can be exercised within the state.

The functions of the PSC are described as part of Article the 107th article of the Indian constitution. The constitution permits for the PSC to recruit and remove public officials. The functions of PSC could be divided into two groups: (a) Administrative , and (b) Consultative.
